We directly employ more than 250 utility and energy specialists across the UK and take ownership of up to 1,500 connections every week. The fact that we own the assets also means that we have the interests of the end customer at heart and focus on providing exceptional customer service and value.
In 1994, we were the first independent company to design, construct, own and operate gas distribution networks, ending the British Gas monopoly and bringing the benefits of competition to new housing developments across the country.
Our ethos was simple - deliver a superior service at a better price, and it remains the cornerstone of our success. In 2004, we applied the same approach to become the first fully operational independent electricity distribution network operator. Since then we have continued to extend our product offering to include community heating systems, water, wastewater and telecommunications 'fibre to the home' products.
